The information in the data provided is based on our current knowledge and experience. Due to the many possible influences during processing and application of our products, this information does not release the user from the obligation to perform their own inspections and tests, and it does not contain any guarantee of properties or suitability of the product for a particular purpose. It is the responsibility of the user to determine the process capability of their 3D printer and to conduct tests for their use cases using our materials. The values refer to test specimens generated from the semi-finished product and not to values based on printed test specimens.
PLA (polylactic acid) filament is the "standard material" in FDM/FFF 3D printing, because it is very easy to print (low warping, good dimensional stability) and allows for both fine details and clean surfaces. Typical areas of application therefore include conceptual and illustrative models, design and form studies, prototypes (esp. for fit/look), miniatures, decorative and housing elements and parts subject to low mechanical stress. PLA is also frequently used for larger prints, as it is reliable and quick to print. At the same time, PLA is rather stiff and brittle and exhibits only limited resistance to heat and weather. For parts subject to heavy stress, situated near heat sources or in long-term outdoor applications, we often turn instead to alternatives such as PETG or ASA.
Additional printing guidelines
- High extruder speeds can affect printing accuracy.
- We recommend selecting the speed based on your own experience and approach the upper limit.
