Sealing tape for watertight sealing of connection and moving joints.
  • The sealing material is permeable to water vapour, which allows it to dry faster

  • Highly resistant to water pressure and watertight, with a burst pressure of over 2.0 bar

  • Flexible and tear resistant

  • Very low emissions

  • High level of resistance ensures that aqueous thin-bed mortars and sealing materials dry out properly

Our products featuring the EMICODE label are low in emissions/harmful substances. The EMICODE label classification system certifies the environmental and health compatibility of construction products, based on strict emission requirements from recognised institutes.

CERAfix 316 met the requirements in accordance with the test principles of the Central Federation of the German Building Trade's technical information leaflet "Joint seals", which apply to loads in load classes A, B, C and to the water influence classes W0-I to W3, W1-B and W2-B.

EMICODE EC1plus: Very low emissions: The EMICODE classification system distinguishes the environmental and health compatibility of construction products. The lowest-emission products bear the EC1plus mark.

Application area

For expansion and movement joint sealing as a system with sealing components and CERAfix 315 system balcony film. For use under tiles and panels in indoor and outdoor applications, e.g. in bathrooms, showers, private and public toilets, as well on terraces, balconies, in swimming pools and pool surrounds.

Instructions

Substrate

All standard surfaces that are suitable for applying seals or tile coverings and have been properly prepared. The substrate must be load bearing, sufficiently flat in accordance with DIN 18202 and free from cracks and adhesion-impairing substances. It must be largely closed and have a suitable surface structure and sufficient strength. Smooth concrete surfaces must be roughened. Separation cracks must be assessed by experts and, where necessary, sealed non-positively with CERAfix 203.

Application

Wherever possible, lay the sealing tape in a loop around the movement joints. Overlap sealing tape joints or connections with all sealing tape, pre-formed parts and corners by at least 5 to 10 cm.

Sealing tapes must be used to create watertight movement and connection joints. Use a 4-6 mm notched trowel to apply CERAfix 301 on both sides of the joints to be bridged, covering an area approximately 2 cm wider than the sealing tape. Lay the sealing tape in the fresh layer and carefully press it into the sealing layer using a smoothing trowel or pressure roller to remove any air bubbles and creases. Ensure that the tape is fully embedded and bonded across the entire surface! The tape must be bonded so that it is not possible for water to get behind the CERAfix 316. Lay the CERAfix 316 in a loop around the movement joints. Overlap the sealing tape joints by at least 5 to 10 cm, bond them to the sealing material over the entire surface and smooth out any creases, then cover them with the chosen sealing material.

In applications exposed to pressurised water, insert a hydrophobic foam cord, apply another layer of CERAfix 316 sealing tape, bond and cover with the corresponding sealing material
