This 4th issue in the publication series of Deutscher Ausschuss für Mauerwerk e.V. (DAfM) explains the existing regulations and the two technical rules of the DIBt "Implementation and evaluation of tests at the construction site" and makes suggestions for their implementation based on three extensive practical examples.

On construction sites, a variety of bricks are commonly used with differing properties in terms of building material (brick, aerated concrete, sand-lime stone, light concrete or standard concrete), structure (solid brick, perforated brick with or without insulation material filling), geometry, density and compressive strength.

However, as part of approval procedures for plastic anchors and metal injection anchors, it is only ever possible for dowel manufacturers to depict one set of properties amongst this variety of brick characteristics for illustrating the permissible anchor base. (Dowel) tests on the structure nevertheless allow the user to perform measurements and installation according to the approval under certain conditions, if the anchorage base actually present on the construction site is not shown in the approval for the dowel system.
