If free-swing door closers are installed in damp rooms, unprotected outdoor areas or in environments with aggressive, corrosive air content, special versions or protective measures are required.
A manual button must be used. The door leaf must be restricted to its max. opening limit using a suitable floor-level doorstop.
The system operator is required to commission the system after initial installation, to test it monthly for the first 12 months, and afterwards, if there are no functional defects, to test it every 3 months and perform a service once a year. Akademie Würth offers seminars for this.

When a free-swing door closer is opened for the first time, the closing function is held in the position to which it was opened. The door can now be passed through freely without the door closer function. In the event of a fire, the function is activated via the integrated smoke detector, the fire alarm system, or for testing purposes via the manual button, and the door closer closes the door securely.
