The SMP EPDM sealing tape adhesive is a soft-elastic, single-component adhesive and vulcanises with air humidity into a soft-elastic, rubber-like plastic.
For the permanent bonding and sealing of Würth EPDM sealing tapes on window and door reveals, for bonding seams, mitre joints, overlaps and various components in indoor and outdoor areas. Can also be used on uneven reveal surfaces or cavities in concrete.
Suitable for connecting EPDM sealing tapes to bituminous substrates on site.
The application surfaces must be clean, dry and free of grease.
Apply the adhesive to the substrate in caterpillar-like beads and spread using a toothed spatula. Depending on the film width, the adhesive width should be between 4 and 5 cm on the structure and 3 cm on the element, with a thickness of ≥ 1 mm in each case. Pay attention to the planning specifications if a full-surface bond is required. With film overlaps, maintain an overlap length of at least 10 cm. Particularly during connection work in grounded areas, care must be taken to ensure that the EPDM sealing tapes are laid in loops and are never tensioned.
Place the film in the fresh adhesive bed and apply light pressure with the press-on roller; make sure that the film is installed without any tension and that a movement loop is formed. After pressing on the film, the bonding gap should have a layer thickness of min. 1 mm and be completely filled with adhesive, without air pockets. Then embed the edges of the film in excess adhesive using a spatula. In the horizontal area, apply adhesive to the edge of the film as an additional seal.
The tape can be adjusted up to 30 minutes after bonding.
